Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international NGO that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training. INSO Syria

The Syria program supports more than 290 NGOs to deliver vitally needed aid and assistance to an estimated 13.1 million people in need across the country. First launched as an emergency response operation in 2014, INSO Syria has grown to become a program covering all Syrian governorates, with a Country Office in Damascus. The Syria conflict is unique and complex; you will find that every day is different and there is always more to learn.

Job Summary

In this role, you will support the Training Team with the administration, logistics, finance, communication, evaluation, procurement and overall coordination of training programmes in Syria.

You will need to be highly organised, flexible and collaborative, with experience supporting training sessions, events or similar activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are essential. You should also have a genuine interest in INSO, the Syria context and strengthening the capacity of NGOs working in challenging environments.

The position is based in Damascus and involves frequent travel to key locations across Syria.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage communications with training participants related to invitations, registration, tests, evaluation forms, and all other pre/post-course communication in coordination with the Training Manager.
  • Assist the training manager in the planning, budgeting, logistics, administration, and management of the training programme.
  • Interface directly with internal support staff and stakeholders on all matters related to administration, logistics, finance, and procurement for training events.
  • Manage day-to-day correspondence, reports, and other documents related to the training programme.
  • Advertise training courses, compile and organise all trainee applications. Prepare attendance rosters and assist in the planning & preparation for courses under the supervision of the training manager.
  • Manage and maintain an inventory of serviceable training supplies, materials, and equipment, including safe storage and accountability.
  • Assist in the preparation, compilation, recording, and filing of post-training reports and evaluations with lessons learned and analysis.
  • Assist training facilitators during training courses. Opportunities to assist in training facilitation if wanted.
  • Attend INSO Syria roundtables, read INSO reports, and remain aware of the Syria context.
  • Assist the training manager in the day-to-day running of the country programme and training sessions and provide support to operations where required.
  • Other duties as requested by the Training Manager.

Mandatory Requirements

Essential

  • 1+ year of experience working with International NGOs in the administrative field
  • Efficient use of Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent working knowledge of English and Arabic languages (spoken and written)
  • Demonstrable experience in administration, logistics, budgeting and procurement
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g, Business Administration, Education, or Training & Development)

Nice to have

  • At least one year of experience working as a training assistant/coordinator, or operations Assistant.
  • Familiarity with the principles of humanitarian NGOs and NGO approaches to security.
  • Field experience is an advantage

Terms & Conditions

This position is based in Damascus and is only open to individuals with the right to live and work in Damascus. 12-month contract with a 3-month probation period. The starting date will be October 2026.
